Half of Userneeds’ Finnish panel members thought something nice about themselves today

January 23rd, 2020

“Love yourself”, “Body positivity” and “Learn the power of positive thinking” might be expressions you have come across before and if you google positivity you will get millions of results. In other words, there are many opinions on how and when to be positive and there is especially a focus on having a positive mindset when it comes to thinking about oneself. Following this trend we were curious to know how many of our panel members actually think something nice about themselves or even say it out loud. We therefore asked the question: “When was the last time you said or thought something nice about yourself?” to our panel members in the Nordics and Ireland.

Perhaps you looked yourself in the mirror this morning and thought “My hair looks great today!” or maybe you did well on an exam and told a friend: “I was brilliant today!” Well if you are from Finland those scenarios are more likely than if you are from any of the other Nordic countries. 49 percent of Userneeds’ Finnish panel members thus answer “Today” to the question: “When was the last time you said or thought something nice about yourself?“ It’s also in Finland you find the biggest group of people who have answered “A few days ago” as 29 percent have chosen that option.

In Denmark and Ireland 30 percent answer that they have thought something nice about themselves today, whereas the percentage is 38 and 37 in Sweden and Norway respectively. This also means that 23 percent of the Danish members and 21 percent of the Irish members don’t even recall when they last thought or said something nice about themselves.

Except for Userneeds’ Finnish members it’s been between 2 weeks and more than a month ago since between 10 and 15 percent of the members across the remaining countries have thought something nice about themselves. In both Denmark and Ireland 8 percent answer that they haven’t thought or said something nice about themselves for more than a month.

We want to thank everyone who has answered the quick poll!
