While some people feel anxious or uncomfortable when police officers are around, the majority of Userneeds’ panel members feel safe.

In a recent quick poll we asked our panel members the following question: “How does it make you feel when you see police officers in the street?” And our panel members in Ireland and the Nordics all seem to agree that it makes them feel safe. Especially in Sweden where 65 percent have chosen that option.

In Finland 45 percent have chosen the option and in the remaining countries more than 50 percent say that it makes them feel safe to see police officers in the street.

Only between 3 and 7 percent thus answer “It makes me uncomfortable” which is just as many as the amount that has answered “Don’t know”. Some people do not get a feeling of unease nor a feeling of safety when they see police officers instead they start thinking of the reason the officers are there. In other words, between 25 percent (Denmark) and 37 percent (Finland) start to wonder if something has happened when they see police officers in the street.
